Founded by Omoyemi Akerele · Lagos, 2011Omoyemi Akerele founded Lagos Fashion Week in 2011, through Style House Files, as a working platform for Nigerian and West African designers — designers who, until then, had been showing largely in private. Fifteen years on, it has become the continent’s busiest commercial fashion week, a clearinghouse for buyers and stylists and a launchpad for the labels that now stock at Browns, MatchesFashion, and Saks. Guzangs began covering the week in 2024 and reports on it in full each season.
