All Roads Lead To Dakar Fashion Week
On Saturday, May 23, 2026, the road to Dakar Fashion Week officially began with the launch of the Guzangs Expérience in Dakar, the first event of the Road to Dakar Fashion Week and Guzangs’ first on-the-ground activation on the African continent.
Conceived in celebration of Dakar Fashion Week’s 25-year legacy, the Guzangs Expérience set the tone for the journey ahead. More than a cocktail gathering, the evening reflected what the platform stands for: storytelling, cultural dialogue, and a contemporary vision of Africa expressed through its own lens.
It brought together designers, artists, entrepreneurs, media figures, and cultural tastemakers, and offered a new language of African elegance, rooted in atmosphere and craftsmanship rather than excess.
Set within the lush gardens of Keur Mamie Charlotte, the evening unfolded with quiet sophistication. The venue’s glass pavilion and seamless indoor-outdoor flow created a setting where fashion, art, music, and conversation moved in natural rhythm. Candlelit tables, curated cocktails, and the subtle hum of creative exchange gave the gathering a cinematic quality, intimate and elevated.
The Guzangs Expérience captured something rarely articulated yet instantly felt: the emergence of a distinctly African art de vivre shaped by culture, heritage, and contemporary expression. It reflected the energy of a Dakar increasingly asserting itself as one of the continent’s leading capitals for fashion and creative exchange.
The evening also featured a presentation of pieces from the latest collection by Adama Paris, whose vision has become inseparable from the narrative of contemporary African fashion. For over two decades, Adama Paris has built platforms that place African designers and creatives at the center of global fashion conversations, transforming Dakar Fashion Week into one of the continent’s most influential and enduring cultural institutions.

The launch evening also marked the official partnership between Guzangs and Dakar Fashion Week for its 25th edition, with Guzangs joining as official media partner. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to documenting and amplifying African fashion and culture through narratives that are contemporary, global, and rooted in the continent itself.
This year’s Road to Dakar Fashion Week unfolds across Dakar, Paris, Abidjan, and Lagos through a series of cultural activations, exhibitions, conversations, and retail experiences celebrating 25 years of African fashion and creative innovation.
The program includes AFRICA NOW, a pop-up and retail experience at Galeries Lafayette Haussmann; the Black Fashion Experience in Paris; the TRIPLE R upcycling competition spotlighting sustainability and emerging designers in Dakar; and Fashion Conversations, bringing together creatives and industry leaders across Abidjan and Lagos.
The celebrations will continue with a retrospective exhibition honoring 25 years of Dakar Fashion Week at the IFAN Museum of African Arts during the Biennale, culminating in the official runway shows in Dakar this December.
