Moulandzaou, which translates to “Land of Elephants” in English, isn’t just a clothing brand—it’s a testament to resilience, identity, and the power of embracing one’s roots.
Founded by Aton Tsiba, Moulandzaou draws its name from the village where Aton was born, serving as a poignant reminder of his journey from shame to pride.
In 1999, amid the chaos of the civil war in Congo, Aton’s parents sought refuge in the tranquility of the country’s southern region. It was in the maternal village of Moulandzaou that Aton came into the world—a humble beginning that would shape his future in unexpected ways. Despite the peaceful surroundings, Aton harbored a sense of shame about his rural origins, fearing judgment from his peers.
Inspired by the need to reclaim his identity and confront his past insecurities, Aton named his brand after his birthplace, turning a source of shame into a symbol of pride. Moulandzaou became a vessel for self-expression, empowerment, and the celebration of African heritage.
The latest collection, “Renaitre,” meaning “Reborn,” embodies this journey of self-discovery and renewal. Combining influences from sportswear, streetwear, and tailoring, the collection reflects Moulandzaou’s commitment to defining its visual identity while embracing sustainability. Through the innovative use of upcycled materials, particularly old denim fabrics, Moulandzaou breathes new life into discarded textiles, paving the way for a more eco-conscious future.
Moulandzaou’s dedication to sustainability and creativity has garnered recognition on both local and international platforms. From gracing the opening of Dakar Fashion Week to being featured in Teen Vogue’s list of “54 African Designers to Follow,” Moulandzaou’s impact continues to resonate across the fashion landscape.
As Moulandzaou launches its new campaign, “Renaitre,” the brand sets the stage for future collections while reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship. With each artisanal piece meticulously crafted and painted, Moulandzaou blurs the lines between tailoring and streetwear, creating a unique aesthetic that embodies the brand’s ethos.
Led by Creative Director Aton Tsiba and a dedicated team, including Alt Kid, Tiakudibondass, Theycallmediordior, and Ashley Hairstyle, Moulandzaou is more than just a fashion brand—it’s a movement. Together, they challenge norms, redefine beauty, and inspire others to embrace their true selves.
Join Moulandzaou on this journey of rebirth and renewal, where every stitch tells a story of resilience and pride.
