Kwasi Paul is named for the space between two places. Samuel Boakye, a first-generation Ghanaian-American, combined his father’s day name (Kwasi, for a boy born on Sunday) with the Western name Paul. The result is a label that lives in that hyphen: hand-tailored in Ghana, designed for everywhere.
The brand launched in 2020. This year, a Kwasi Paul ensemble was featured in The Met’s Superfine: Tailoring Black Style exhibition, the show that inspired the 2025 Met Gala theme.
The piece to know is the cream blazer with cowrie shells tracing the lapel, cuffs, and seams. Cropped, structured, unmistakably intentional.
